Sun City Comedy Open Mic Contests at Maverick’s Bar & Grill (6999 Montana Ave.) are getting better and better! The month of August brought host, feature performer and MC Manny Vigil and about 13 contestants trying to win the $100 cash prize this was the best way to end the summer break!  The competition was filled with new faces including contestants from as far away as New Jersey! It was an awesome competition but at the end of the night the winner was up and coming comedian, Alex Portillo, who took the $100 giant check prize with a hilarious “roast” of regular performers on the sun city comedy stage! Second place winner of the comedy open mic contest was comedian Sonny G, who took merchandise from our sponsors Sun City Comedy

We open the month of August at Federal Courthouse Bar & Grill on August 12 with our bi-weekly Comedy Open Mic Contest featuring Host and MC, Aleks Roman The show featured 11 comedians from all over El Paso, Las Cruces and surrounding areas.

Winner of the $100 cash prize went to first Duke Fightmaster from central Texas. Second Place went to The Wolf!  who took an exclusive Sun City Comedy T-shirt courtesy of Sun City Comedy and Hellpaso Streetwear.

Sun City Comedy celebrated its 2 year anniversary with a packed show at San Antonio Mining Co. in beautiful downtown El Paso.  With a crowd that included comedians, sponsors, members of the Sun City Softball League, and El Paso comedy fans, this standing room only event had everyone enjoying the funniest and most professional performers in El Paso and surrounding areas.

Performers for the night included Host and MC for the night Mando Blanco, opening acts Sonny G and Aleks Roman, feature act was The Wolf, and closing the show was Gibran the Comegician! Guest appearances by Nick Haddox, Sam Butler and Duke Fightmaster made this great show a hit with everyone in attendance. We would also like to thank our sponsors Hellpaso Streetwear, SCC Photography & Design, El Paso United Realty, Bust-A-Gut Defensive Driving Schools, and Lean Mean Fitness for all their continued support, we wouldn’t be where we are without you guys!
