We had a great show July 15 at Federal Courthouse Bar & Grill with Host and MC, international touring comedian, Patrick Candelaria! The show featured a slew of comedians from all over El Paso and surrounding areas and a special appearance by national touring comedian Gibran the Comegician!

Winner of the $100 cash prize went to Cedric Reed, who has been performing standup at places like Fort Bliss and El Paso Comic Strip.

With a mixed crowd from all sides of El Paso and a few people from Las Cruces, the first Sun City Comedy Open Mic Contest at Federal Courthouse Bar & Grill was a complete success! With host and MC Jorge Jimenez leading the helm on our debut night, it was a night filled with fun and laughter. Audience members participated at the new Joke-Off! A one joke contest in which audience members can participate in and win prizes provided by Federal Courthouse Bar & Grill and Hellpasostore.com

Mando Blanco is someone every comedian knows in El Paso, seeing how it was him that brought together most of the performers that now form the original members of Sun City Comedy; Mando holds the distinction of being the only member of Sun City Comedy that has had his very own comedy roast. We met with Mando for a very special Laughter profile and see how this man helped launch one of the funniest comedy groups in the southwest.

Sun City Comedy: So, Mando how is it that you came to be? Tell us a little bit of the history of Mando.

With an amazing crowd that roared with laughter all night and comedians from all over El Paso and surrounding areas, Sun City Comedy’s June’s Comedy Open Mic Contest at Maverick’s Bar & Grill (6999 Montana Ave.) was one of the best we’ve had this year! With host and MC The Wolf! feature guest performer Robert C, and a total of 15 contestants trying to win the $100 cash prize this was one of the best nights of the summer!  It was a tough competition but at the end of the night the winner was a visitor to the Sun City, Damon from Philadelphia PA, who took the $100 cash prize with his hilarious routine. Second place winner of the comedy open mic contest was comedian Murphman, who took merchandise from our sponsors Hellpaso streetwear (check out their website for some awesome streetware at www.hellpasostore.com)
